CBSE Board Exams 2025:- The Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE has started practical exams, internal assessment and project assessment for class 10th and 12th students from the academic year 2024-25.

Practicals started on January 1, 2025, and the organizations should ensure that it is evaluated, and ready by February 14, 2025; then class 10 and class 12 board exams begin on February 15, 2025. The authorities also have given transparent guidelines for its assessment, such that smooth management, in this respect would remain dependent on all these criteria under strict implementations towards making an evaluation transparent, speedy, and one that has absolutely no chance of being corrupted by any means etc.

The dates highlighted by the CBSE are:

Guidelines for Schools

To ensure that practical examinations are conducted with maximum smoothness, the following guidelines have been issued by CBSE:

Availability of Practical Answer Books: Schools ensure that practical answer books are available in sufficient numbers a day in advance before the examination so that shortage is reported to their regional office of the CBSE without delay.

Communication with Stakeholders: Schools are required to inform their students and parents in advance sufficiently to ensure that the schedule of practical examinations is on time and one gets to understand and comply with the Board’s instructions.

Pre-lab Preparation: Laboratories should be well-equipped with necessary and sufficient infrastructure, materials, and equipment to enable easy and smooth conduct of assessment.

Coordination with External Examiners: Beforehand, their willingness and availability for examination can be ascertained by coordinating with CBSE-appointed external examiners.

Support for Children with Special Needs: Schools must make sufficient provisions for them to make the children with special needs comfortable.

Keeping Pace with the Timetable: The internal school schedule for practical exams from January 1 to February 14, 2025, shall be strictly adhered to.

Uploading Marks within the Stipulated Timeline: Marks should be uploaded to the school portal on the same day of the examination. Internal and external examiners must talk among themselves about the compilation of marks, as no later amendments are allowed.

Cross-checking of Marks Back: Before awarding marks and uploading them into the portal, schools should recheck the maximum marks for each subject. Principals are reminded that post-result corrections will not be entertained.

Performance-Based Marking: Examiners must award marks solely based on student’s performance during the assessments. Answer books now include an undertaking requiring examiners to verify the maximum marks and adhere to CBSE guidelines.

No Exemptions for Sportspersons: Students engaged in national or international sports events will not receive exemptions from practical exams, nor shall separate arrangements be made for them.

External Examiners for Class 12: For Class 12, only CBSE-appointed external examiners are permitted to conduct the practical exams. Any deviation from this guideline will render the assessment null and void.

Monitoring and Compliance: School heads must ensure from February 1, 2025, onward, that practical assessments proceed smoothly till their completion, with marks uploaded. Such schools that do not follow CBSE’s guidelines run the risk of cancellation of their practicals.

Emphasis on Transparency and Accuracy

The practical examination was made transparent and error-free by the CBSE board. Uploading results within the same day and a responsibility shared between Internal and External Examiners reflect the concern of the Board to minimize errors. Additionally, the inclusion of an undertaking in answer books underscores the importance of compliance with CBSE’s instructions.

Importance of Practical Examinations

Practical examinations are among the foremost things that help the evaluation of concept understanding and application of theoretical knowledge. For science and vocational subjects, practical examinations are of prime essence in determining a candidate’s final performance. CBSE guidelines aim to provide clear directives for holding the evaluation credible and reliable but significantly stressing severe adherence.

CBSE Exam Date Sheet Released

Besides the date sheet for practical exams, the board declared the date sheet for the Class 10 and Class 12 board exams. Class 10 English paper begins on February 15, 2025, while the entrepreneurship paper for Class 12 will also begin on that date.  Schools and students should plan accordingly and make judicious use of this time.
